  • Bunk Beds in South Sudan are M.A.D.

    Hi Donny,

The bunk beds purchased with our Friendship Bracelet fundraiser are being built by craftsmen in South Sudan and soon will be delivered to Ayak Anguei All-Girls’ School. Attached is a photo of one of the beds receiving a coat of paint. These will be the first beds at the school and they will provide much more than a safe place for the girls to sleep at night.

Because many have to walk several hours to reach the school, the only possible way for them to attend regularly is by remaining on the school grounds. In addition, if they have to return home each day, much of their study time is taken up with fetching water, grinding grains, and other chores. The girls’ desire to get an education is so strong, many have chosen to stay at the school and sleep on the ground. Unfortunately, they have also had to fight the poisonous snakes and scorpions while trying to sleep. The beds will help them achieve their dreams of becoming educated. With an education, the girls will have the opportunity to become the leaders of their communities tomorrow!

Our MAD team continues to hold fundraising events this summer and has several more planned for the fall!

    • -We are holding our 1st Garage Sale on June 10th and 11th with help from neighbors and friends who donated items.
    • -We’re still accepting donations of $2.50 for the fun Purple Roses(Donny) vs. Red Roses(Marie) competition! Money raised will bring education to the girls in South Sudan and the flowers with donor’s name and personal message will be delivered to the patients at The Children’s Hospital in Colorado. • -In early July, Lindsey has planned a Glow Pool Party that is sure to be fun and raise money for our charity!
    • -The BIG event this summer is the Climb for Sudan which will take two climbers to the summit of Colorado’s fifty-eight 14,000 foot peaks in just 70 days!! They have been preparing and training for months and will begin their trek on July 2nd. All donations will benefit Project Education Sudan in bringing hope to the children of South Sudan.
