My Beliefs

Donny Osmond

“As I’ve traveled all over the world, the fact that I’m a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has caused a lot of interesting questions. I’ve received so many letters and e-mails asking things like, What are the basic beliefs of Latter-day Saints?”

My Testimony

…Some want to know how Debbie and I have been able to maintain a strong marriage — over all these years — while living in the world of show business. Others want to know how we dealt with the challenges of raising a close and happy family in such difficult times.

How do we maintain a balance between work, and family life? Well, you know it’s not always easy, but the following pages are my attempt to explain a way of life that helps answer these kinds of questions. It gives me stability in a world, and in a business, that can be uncertain, compromising, and stressful. It’s the pattern that gives me direction in my life. And, I hope that this information will help answer some of your questions.

Questions & Answers

  • Jehovahs Witnesses

Thank you for allowing others to contribute to your page I’ve very much enjoyed reading some of the questions .
One question that did confuse  me though was regarding the  Beliefs of Jehovahs Wittnesses
I have been a Jehovah s Wittness  for 30 years  and some of your information was not accurate .
We Believe  and highly reguard  and Esteem Jesus Christ as our Savior and base our whole Dedication  and Baptism  on our knowledge of the Ransom Sacrifice that only by him we can approach our heavenly Father Jehovah  with a clean conscience.
Because of this we have the greatest respect for our Savior Jesus Christ and that he is now Ruling from heaven .
We definately  do not follow a Man or Men we are not a cult  We are a unified  organised people dedicated to accomplishing the preaching of The Good News of the coming Kingdom stated Mathew ch 6 verse 9.
Our ministry is a way of life and a ongoing assignment untill the conclusion  of the system of things It is organised  in a unified way Worldwide  in every continent and in over 280 languages .
Once you are dedicated and Baptised this is your assignment.
Although there is no hourly requirement all the work is done on a voluntary basis .
Our elders in the Congregations world wide are not paid.
Our Governing Body is not paid.
Our building and construction of Kingdom halls is non paid work
Our Wittnessing work is not paid
To Unify over 8million people worldwide to accomplish this work is an amazing thing .
We all Meet together  twice a Week to study the Scriptures and each meeting is exactly the same format  in any Kingdom Hall worldwide .
If you would like  to really see what Jehovahs  Wittnesses believe  please feel free to  look up
We have nothing to hide just  we are just fellow workers .
I have for  many years admired your family and wish you the best in all  things
Hope this  has clarified a few things for you
Much Warm Christian love to your Family

  • Reconsider Catholicism

I am a Catholic and I have some problems with your beliefs. You believe that there was a great apostasy and yet that doesn’t make any sense. If there was a Great Apostasy then where’s the proof and how did the Catholic Church last for 2000 years? … If his Church disappeared even for a short time, the gates of hell would have prevailed. Therefore Christ’s Church could only be the Catholic Church since the Mormon Church didn’t exist until 1830. The only Church that can be traced back all the way to Christ is the Catholic Church and Christ is no liar. His Church would NEVER fall.

  • Christian vs Mormon Doctrine

My question is this, do you believe that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the only true church of Christ, and if so, does that mean that you believe only those who find this same reality will dwell with the Lord for all eternity?   To put it more bluntly, are all those who have a relationship with Christ saved or only those of the Mormon faith?

Also, what is your perspective on Romans 10:9,  which seems to clearly outline the true path to salvation vs. your belief in the need for water baptism?  Do you believe that John 3:5 is a clear command that we are to be baptized by water to inherit the Kingdom?   As a Christian in leadership, I have been asked this question many times.  I myself am baptized and have always believed baptism to be symbolic of being crucified with Christ and resurrected as a new creature (2 Cor 5:17); thereafter, having now received the responsibility of renewing our minds through the scripture, the guidance of the Holy Spirit and intimate fellowship with The Lord Jesus Christ.
