My Beliefs

ARE WE RELATED?
Donny Osmond

“As I’ve traveled all over the world, the fact that I’m a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has caused a lot of interesting questions. I’ve received so many letters and e-mails asking things like, What are the basic beliefs of Latter-day Saints?”

My Testimony

Listen

…Some want to know how Debbie and I have been able to maintain a strong marriage — over all these years — while living in the world of show business. Others want to know how we dealt with the challenges of raising a close and happy family in such difficult times.

How do we maintain a balance between work, and family life? Well, you know it’s not always easy, but the following pages are my attempt to explain a way of life that helps answer these kinds of questions. It gives me stability in a world, and in a business, that can be uncertain, compromising, and stressful. It’s the pattern that gives me direction in my life. And, I hope that this information will help answer some of your questions.

Questions & Answers

  • Forgiveness

My son passed away at 31-and was on antidepressants, sleeping medication, and he got into drugs.  After he OD’ in 2009, he went into rehab and wrote about his anger, hurt, and the things that enabled him to find a way into a pain free life.  After reading these pages, I learned that he was angry at me for many things, and the hurt was real.  I learned he had been bullied, and I didn’t know at the time all of the suffering he was going through…I am constantly asking him to forgive me for not knowing how badly my actions…or lack of paying attention  affected him.  His siblings read these notes, and are blaming me and his short-tempered dad for all he had gone through…now they don’t even want me to visit my grandchildren because they think I will damage them.  I have many faults, but growing older has also made me wiser, and I can’t take back their past…I hope they forgive me, but most important, I hope my son who is in heaven forgives me…I know God does as we are all sinners…I pray and cry a lot-feeling like no one will give me a second chance…

  • Forgiveness

I was brought up so strict that I really didn’t have much of a childhood and although it was sad then, I have since used my negative experiences and turned them into positives.  I have forgiven my father sincerely and [wholeheartedly].  I had to because believe it or not, it was so much easier and took much less effort to forgive than to carry it with me for the rest of my life.
