My Beliefs

Donny Osmond

“As I’ve traveled all over the world, the fact that I’m a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has caused a lot of interesting questions. I’ve received so many letters and e-mails asking things like, What are the basic beliefs of Latter-Day Saints?”

My Testimony

…Some want to know how Debbie and I have been able to maintain a strong marriage — over all these years — while living in the world of show business. Others want to know how we dealt with the challenges of raising a close and happy family in such difficult times.

How do we maintain a balance between work, and family life? Well, you know it’s not always easy, but the following pages are my attempt to explain a way of life that helps answer these kinds of questions. It gives me stability in a world, and in a business, that can be uncertain, compromising, and stressful. It’s the pattern that gives me direction in my life. And, I hope that this information will help answer some of your questions.

Questions & Answers

  • Does God Really Hear and Answer Everyone’s Prayer?

Hello, Donny. I didn’t know who else to talk to about this, so I decided I would just get on here and ask you (my favorite celebrity.) I am 15 years old, and lately, I’ve been feeling sad. My family is always fighting. We’re just always mad at each other. My mom and dad don’t hate each other I don’t think, but they don’t seem to love each other. I never see them smile at each other, or kiss. My dad doesn’t always do the things he should (such as going to church.) Anyway, I’ve been praying that things will get better…and about a bunch of other things too. But is God really listening to me? Sometimes, I’m not so sure. I don’t think this is true, but somewhere I heard that God only truly listens to the prayers of important people in the church. And I thought he cared about everybody. I am very, very unhappy right now because there is so much to worry about in my life. Do you really believe that God has a purpose for me? And does he really care about me, and listen to my prayers? Thank you so much for reading this.

(P.S. I love you more than you could ever know. You make me smile when I’m feeling down, which has been a lot lately)

Thank you much for your kind remarks.

I know that our Heavenly Father loves you with a perfect and unconditional love that way beyond our comprehension. It is impossible for us to imagine how he loves us all and how he can answer our prayers, but I learned of a computer chip the other day that can store 20 gigabytes of information and it is not divine like our Heavenly Father. He has infinite capacity to know and love us all and answer our prayers. He has lots of good spirits helping him also, some of whom may be our own ancestors who are assigned to watch over us. He does give us our free agency and though your pray that your parents will be loving towards each other, He will never impose upon their freedom to choose. Have your ever invited your parents to join you in a prayer so they are aware of your concern for them and how you are praying for them. Maybe that would help them give some extra thought as to how the way they are treating each other is affection you. Surely they love you and will want to not hurt you.

I have had my prayers answered many time and I do know that Heavenly Father loves us and does hear and answer our prayers. Often, the answers may not come in the way or the time that we wish but if we persist in praying, He will always respond by blessing us in ways that will help us most. I suggest you begin to pray to know his will concerning the religions of the world and begin to try to find His true religion. This will give you direction in your life and will lead you to the peace you seek: “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” (John 14:27)

Jesus invited us to: “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:” (Matthew 7:7)

I will be honored to help you, so let me know if you want to “seek” our Heavenly Father’s will concerning his gospel and our lives and I will help guide you in your search.

    Your friend,
