“As I’ve traveled all over the world, the fact that I’m a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has caused a lot of interesting questions. I’ve received so many letters and e-mails asking things like, What are the basic beliefs of Latter-day Saints?”

My Testimony

…Some want to know how Debbie and I have been able to maintain a strong marriage — over all these years — while living in the world of show business. Others want to know how we dealt with the challenges of raising a close and happy family in such difficult times.

How do we maintain a balance between work, and family life? Well, you know it’s not always easy, but the following pages are my attempt to explain a way of life that helps answer these kinds of questions. It gives me stability in a world, and in a business, that can be uncertain, compromising, and stressful. It’s the pattern that gives me direction in my life. And, I hope that this information will help answer some of your questions.

A yes or no answer would be Great I’m pretty sure I know the answer but would be great to check .

    Thanks

Sorry Lucy!   This question does not deserve a yes or no answer.

First of all, I’m not sure why you would refer to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as a cult religion. You may be correct in doing that if you would call Jesus’ followers and his ancient Church a cult.  At some point, honest seekers of truth will find that the church is in fact The Church of Jesus Christ in these latter days because of its restoration as promised before the second coming of Christ:

Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.   (Acts 3:21)

Christian professors do not realize that we all are spiritual offspring of our Heavenly Father. This
includes Jesus and Lucifer, also referred to as Satan. Jesus, however, was the firstborn of Heavenly Father’s children.

We accept the scriptures that tell us our spirits are the offspring of our Heavenly Father:

“Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man’s device.” (Acts17:29

“The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of GodAnd if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.”  (Romans 8:16-17)

Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?  (Hebrews 12:9)

    Like the poet Wordsworth said:

“We did not suddenly flare into existence, but with trailing clouds of glory do we come from God, who is our home.”

Our spirits that give us life are the offspring of and dwelt with our Heavenly Father before this earth was created.  Consider God’s question to Job:

Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding… When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy? (Job 38:4 & 7)

Since Jesus was the firstborn of all of Father’s spiritual offspring, he inherited the birthright to actually be the creator:

“In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: (Colossians 1:14-16; see also John 1:1-3; 17:1-5 and Hebrews 1:1-3)

Lucifer was also a spirit child of God, or as the scriptures refer to him as “son of the morning”. He rebelled against the Father having wanted to take over the glory and authority of God. There was a war in heaven in which Lucifer and his followers were cast out of that heavenly abode, was cast down to this earth and became Satan.  He is continuing to attempt to thwart the purposes of God.

“How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!  For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.”  (Isaiah 14:12-14; see also verses 15-19)

In the 12th chapter of Revelation, John describes Lucifer as a great dragon who drew a third part of the “stars of heaven” with him and with whom he was “cast to the earth” where he would have destroyed the Savior’s plan if he could. (See verses 3-5; verses 6-9 are below then continue verses 10-14):

“And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.  And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.”

Satan and his “angels” are very busy and quite effective in these latter-days leading up to the Second Coming of Christ.  He is  prompting the

enemies of our church try to belittle our beliefs by saying we believe that Satan was a brother of Jesus. I must agree that on the surface, and without any background of knowledge, this sounds awful. But the truth is, Lucifer is in fact a spirit offspring of God just like you and me, and Jesus. This is why we refer to our God as our Heavenly Father.  The difference is that Jesus always did the Father’s will and Satan rebelled and was cast out to provide the needed opposition that we have here so we can choose and learn by our own experiences.

I would also like to point out, and this is exactly what Joseph Smith had difficulty with at such a young age, and that is the Bible can be argued against itself in so many ways. Just look at how many Christian religions there currently are on the Earth, yet they all claim to believe in the same Bible.  The point is, those who espouse that the Bible contains the whole truth are not able to accurately interpret the writings therein, and never will until they accept the fact that there are living apostles and prophets on earth who direct the Lord’s Church by revelation from the Lord and that they are the ones who are able, by the influence of the Holy Ghost, to interpret the truth from the writings of those who anciently were inspired in writing it.

20  Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
21  For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
    (New Testament | 2 Peter 1:20 – 21)

Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.
    (Old Testament | Amos 3:7)

These living apostles and prophets, along with others, speak twice a year in what we refer to as General Conference. I invite you to read what they have said:

Shown is one of the living prophets, Henry B. Eyring, who is speaking in the special conference for Women.

I invite you to listen to these living prophets and learn a little about them on LDS.org and prayerfully decide whether they have been deceived as part of a weird cult as Satan would have people believe, or they are in fact true apostles and prophets of the Lord, Jesus Christ.

Let me know what you think.

    Thanks,
