My Beliefs

Donny Osmond

“As I’ve traveled all over the world, the fact that I’m a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has caused a lot of interesting questions. I’ve received so many letters and e-mails asking things like, What are the basic beliefs of Latter-day Saints?”

My Testimony

…Some want to know how Debbie and I have been able to maintain a strong marriage — over all these years — while living in the world of show business. Others want to know how we dealt with the challenges of raising a close and happy family in such difficult times.

How do we maintain a balance between work, and family life? Well, you know it’s not always easy, but the following pages are my attempt to explain a way of life that helps answer these kinds of questions. It gives me stability in a world, and in a business, that can be uncertain, compromising, and stressful. It’s the pattern that gives me direction in my life. And, I hope that this information will help answer some of your questions.

what would you say 2 people who say your faith is a cult? hoping you r ok.

    Dear Elaine,
    I am fine, thanks.
Here is the definition of cult:
    1. a system of religious veneration and devotion directed toward a particular figure or object.
      “the cult of St. Olaf”
      • a relatively small group of people having religious beliefs or practices regarded by others as strange or sinister.
        “a network of Satan-worshiping cults”
        synonyms: sectdenominationgroupmovementchurchpersuasionbodyfaction

        “a religious cult”
      • a misplaced or excessive admiration for a particular person or thing.
“a cult of personality surrounding the leaders”
I suppose if “veneration towards a particular figure” would include devotion to the Lord,  Jesus Christ, then we and much of Christianity could be called a cult.  Certainly, we are not a relatively small group as the Church membership is over 15 million but surely is misunderstood and may be considered strange by some, however,  I will tell  you that The Church of  Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints  teaches the same doctrine that Jesus and his apostles taught in Biblical times and has the same organization as his ancient Church including living apostles and prophets who operate by the same divine priesthood authority to which Jesus ordained the original apostles and prophets:
16  Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit,…  (New Testament | John 15:16)
           We baptize by this authority and by immersion as they did anciently, in fact, we claim to be the restored Church of Jesus Christ that was promised to be              restored to the earth prior to Christ’s second coming;
21  Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the        world  began.    (New Testament | Acts 3:21)
We are called a cult only by those who are threatened by the idea that the Lord has restored his Church and has living prophets leading his church today by revelation from Him.  They know that if this is true, they are the ones that are on the wrong track and their personal interpretation of the gospel are man made and their doctrines are not of God.
I would be pleased to share more about the LDS faith which I have come to know is true.
