Donny & Marie – The Final Show!

November 16, 2019 Las Vegas

The final Donny and Marie show was on November 16th, 2019.

What was supposed to be a six week engagement actually turned into an eleven year run at the Flamingo, Las Vegas.

I wish my sister all the best with her future endeavors. As for me… I can hardly wait for you to hear and see what my next move will be. It’s going to be very exciting.

Happy 40th anniversary!

May 8, 2018 Hawaii

I recorded this song about 4 years ago just for the fun of it, but then I realized this would be a perfect song for my 40th anniversary.  I proposed to Debbie in Hawaii, so I thought it would be the ideal place to take her and show her this video 40 years later. She had no idea I put this together. It was a complete surprise.  😊
This video shows why I married Debbie Glenn.
A huge thank you to the genius of the late John Lennon who wrote it, and for David Foster who arranged it.

February 9, 2016 Las Vegas

With a resounding gasp and overwhelming enthusiasm, Donny Osmond and Marie Osmond came face-to-face with their Madame Tussauds wax figures for the first time. The unveiling took place on stage inside The Donny & Marie Showroom at Flamingo Las Vegas during their first performance of the new year.

For Marie, her figure looked so real she said, “It’s amazing how real they look… I’ve always wondered what it would be like to have sister.”

To that Donny replied, “I have one sister and one is enough!”

The figures are now permanently on display inside Madame Tussauds Las Vegas located at The Venetian.

Donny Osmond and Marie Osmond’s figures are the attraction’s first new figures for 2016. The figures were created in late 2015. That was when Madame Tussauds’ studio team first measured the brother-sister duo. This step of the process involved collecting hand impressions and nearly 300 precise body and facial measurements per person, as well as comparing hair samples and eyecolor. For measuring, calipers were utilized to ensure accuracy. The figures were then sculpted and perfected in clay by hand. Once this step was completed, the clay was covered by a plaster cast, subsequently the clay was removed from the cast, the wax was poured in and allowed to cool, leaving the shape of the figures. The final weeks of 2015 were spent meticulously inserting each hair by hand then fitted with acrylic eyes and teeth. The final step included countless layers of tinted paint being applied to build up skin tones and replicate their faces.

The figures are dressed in costumes from their show. Marie donated her deep aqua sequined knee-length dress, along with earrings and black and blue platform shoes. Donny gave his figure his black suit and shoes. Both of their wedding bands and rings were replicated for the figures as well.

My nephew, Hyrum Osmond was the supervising animator on Disney’s Frozen. While animating Prince Hans during the song “Love Is an Open Door,” Hyrum wanted to add a little Donny Osmond mannerisms to the Prince. “I originally had the section under a waterfall with his eyes closed and raised his arm exactly like the signature Donny Osmond move just really belting it out,” Hyrum explained. The directors felt that was just a little too Donny Osmond, so we pulled that back.”
I guess I can say that with my voice as Captain Shang in Mulan and mannerisms of Prince Hans in Frozen, you all can refer to me as a Captain and a Prince. LOL! 😜

Weird Al called me and said he just wrote a parody of “Ridin’ Dirty” by Chamillionaire featuring Krayzie Bone, and called it “White and Nerdy”. He then proceeded to tell me that I was the first person he thought of to be in the video with him. LOL!

This version is take 1 if front of the green screen. Keep in mind that everything in this was improv. Neither one of us knew what we were going to do when the camera was on. Everyone in the studio was rolling on the floor with laughter when it was over, including Al and me.

I loved working with Martin Lawrence and Raven-Symoné in this movie. When I first read the script I thought that my part was really stupid. I either had to tone it down a bit or really go for it. I went for it! Some of the improving in this movie was so funny, like the time I kissed Martin on the cheek when he wasn’t expecting it. As you can see, his reaction was authentic. Molly Ephraim did an amazing job as my crazed daughter. 🤪

Little Johnny Jones

This was an eye opener for me on Broadway. Despite the fact that on opening night we had to stop the show three times for standing ovations, the reviews were, well, let’s just say that we opened and closed the same night. Ouch! However, I made a promise that I would someday redeem myself from this bump in the road.

Coincidentally, almost 10 years to the day, I began working on a little show called Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. And as they say, the rest is history.
