Donny & Marie – The Final Show!

November 16, 2019 Las Vegas

The final Donny and Marie show was on November 16th, 2019.

What was supposed to be a six week engagement actually turned into an eleven year run at the Flamingo, Las Vegas.

I wish my sister all the best with her future endeavors. As for me… I can hardly wait for you to hear and see what my next move will be. It’s going to be very exciting.

Because of the Peacock, I’m a fan.

September 19, 2019 Los Angeles

So, I’ve never had the pleasure of meeting Donny Osmond in person 😭, and I know there is already something from Masked Singer on his time line, but this video shows the first time I became a Donny Osmond fan (knowingly).  I thought he was super hilarious when he pretended to go after Hippo and he really grabbed my attention with his performance.  I didn’t start watching Masked Singer until season 2, but when T-Pain guest judged on it I had to watch season 1 to find out how he won.  By the time the first episode ended I had forgotten I wanted to find out how he won and continued to watch because I loved the Peacock!
I posted this because I love Donny’s sense of humor and personality as well as his voice.  That video is one of a few moments I love from his time on Masked Singer.

The Predetermined Peacock

February 27, 2019 Los Angeles

I guess I knew 40 years in advance that I would be the very first performer on The Masked Singer, and do it as a Peacock. 🦚

Thanks to Tammy Stone who wrote:

Dear Donny,
Do you remember this peacock outfit from the Donny and Marie show?  I saw this episode a few weeks ago and immediately thought of your Masked Singer costume.  Anyway I took a few screenshots from YouTube to remind you of this peacock outfit.  In case you might want to post a still shot or video clip to your website or social media.  Did you have an affinity for peacocks back then or was this outfit just the costume designer’s choice? I love all of the outfits you and Marie wore on your show in the 70s.  They are so cool. By the way, you set the bar on the Masked Singer for all future performers to try to attain.  I don’t know what the judges were thinking but you certainly earned and deserved that trophy.
Sincerely,
Tammy Stone
Thanks Tammy. BTW, the Peacock was my choice. 😉

Mystic Lake Christmas show

November 22, 2018 Prior Lake, MN

I took this photo at Mystic Lake casino near Minneapolis last November 23 at your Christmas show with Marie. I had been a fan in the early years (70s) but lost track of you after that what with college, marriage, kids and job. This show coincided with a shopping trip to the area and I just had to see it. You and Marie didn’t disappoint and my love for you and your music has been rekindled!  My sister and I traveled to Vegas and saw you May 22 this year!  Since then I’ve purchased 8 of your CDs and am looking forward to the new one!  Fan forever!!  💜🎶

Happy 40th anniversary!

May 8, 2018 Hawaii

I recorded this song about 4 years ago just for the fun of it, but then I realized this would be a perfect song for my 40th anniversary.  I proposed to Debbie in Hawaii, so I thought it would be the ideal place to take her and show her this video 40 years later. She had no idea I put this together. It was a complete surprise.  😊
This video shows why I married Debbie Glenn.
A huge thank you to the genius of the late John Lennon who wrote it, and for David Foster who arranged it.

While everyone was moving their clocks ahead this w/end, I was turning back the hands of time watching my teen idol Donny Osmond perform a few feet away from me. I felt like that 10 year old girl hearing “Puppy Love” for the first time and dreaming that he meant it just for me. He was incredible with his fans as we yelled “We love you Donny”! God Bless him, he still had the moves of a 20 year old. I was lucky enough to have a private meet and greet with MY MAN. He was so gorgeous up close and I couldn’t take my eyes off of him.   I couldn’t thank him enough for taking time to meet me! It’s true when they say “Life’s not about how many breaths you take, it’s about the moments that take your breath away”….THIS by far was one of those moments! I waited 42 years to meet Donny Osmond and the entire experience was better than I ever could’ve imagined all those years ago.

DONNY & MARIE UNVEIL THEIR MADAME TUSSAUDS WAX FIGURES!

February 9, 2016 Las Vegas

With a resounding gasp and overwhelming enthusiasm, Donny Osmond and Marie Osmond came face-to-face with their Madame Tussauds wax figures for the first time. The unveiling took place on stage inside The Donny & Marie Showroom at Flamingo Las Vegas during their first performance of the new year.

For Marie, her figure looked so real she said, “It’s amazing how real they look… I’ve always wondered what it would be like to have sister.”

To that Donny replied, “I have one sister and one is enough!”

The figures are now permanently on display inside Madame Tussauds Las Vegas located at The Venetian.

Donny Osmond and Marie Osmond’s figures are the attraction’s first new figures for 2016. The figures were created in late 2015. That was when Madame Tussauds’ studio team first measured the brother-sister duo. This step of the process involved collecting hand impressions and nearly 300 precise body and facial measurements per person, as well as comparing hair samples and eyecolor. For measuring, calipers were utilized to ensure accuracy. The figures were then sculpted and perfected in clay by hand. Once this step was completed, the clay was covered by a plaster cast, subsequently the clay was removed from the cast, the wax was poured in and allowed to cool, leaving the shape of the figures. The final weeks of 2015 were spent meticulously inserting each hair by hand then fitted with acrylic eyes and teeth. The final step included countless layers of tinted paint being applied to build up skin tones and replicate their faces.

The figures are dressed in costumes from their show. Marie donated her deep aqua sequined knee-length dress, along with earrings and black and blue platform shoes. Donny gave his figure his black suit and shoes. Both of their wedding bands and rings were replicated for the figures as well.

August 13, 2014 at the Rainforest Cafe on the boardwalk in AC.  During the show at Caesar’s when you started talking about your late night walks on the boardwalk.  The audience went nuts and wanted to know when and where.  First, you acted like you would never tell.  Then you changed your mind and actually said you’d be outside Rainforest Cafe at 10:00.  You were in a mood that night, being extra silly.  We were sure you were going to show up. We didn’t expect the costume, but we sure were glad we were ready for you.  You did not disappoint!

My nephew, Hyrum Osmond was the supervising animator on Disney’s Frozen. While animating Prince Hans during the song “Love Is an Open Door,” Hyrum wanted to add a little Donny Osmond mannerisms to the Prince. “I originally had the section under a waterfall with his eyes closed and raised his arm exactly like the signature Donny Osmond move just really belting it out,” Hyrum explained. The directors felt that was just a little too Donny Osmond, so we pulled that back.”
I guess I can say that with my voice as Captain Shang in Mulan and mannerisms of Prince Hans in Frozen, you all can refer to me as a Captain and a Prince. LOL! 😜

Flamingo Building Wrap – 2008

August 1, 2008 Las Vegas

This is when it all began back in 2008!
What was supposed to be a 6 week run, is now over a decade!

The test shows at MGM prior to The Flamingo

July 19, 2008 Las Vegas

Hi Donny,

Having been a fan ever since I was a child faithfully watching “The Donny & Marie Show” every Friday night in the 70s, I knew that when I heard that you and Marie were getting back together for a select number of dates at the MGM in Las Vegas in 2008 that I had to go see the show. In fact, your limited run coincided with my 40th birthday and it seemed like the perfect way to celebrate a milestone such as that.

My best friend, Renee (who is equally a lifelong fan), and I  bought tickets for the July 18, 2008 show which also gave us access to the sound check prior the show. To finally be able to see you both in concert was such a thrill!  It brought back all those awesome childhood memories as well as hear the current music you’ve been making over the years (which is part of my workout playlist to this day).

Over the years since that show, however, I have always been disappointed in myself that I did not participate in the meet and greet in 2008, so to celebrate my 50th birthday this past year, I bought a ticket to see you at the Flamingo and finally had the opportunity to meet you both and thank you for all of the wonderful years of entertainment you have given me. You both were so gracious and meeting you was definitely a lifetime highlight!

Attached you will find both ticket stubs: from your 2008 limited MGM Grand engagement and the 2019 show during your final performances at the Flamingo.

Thank you for all the awesome music and memories!

A lifelong fan,
Eric

Birthday Celebration Magnet

December 9, 2007 Las Vegas

This is a picture of the magnet that I received when I attended your 50th Birthday celebration in Las Vegas. We had tickets to your show at the Orleans that Saturday and then found out about the birthday party. I was so excited to be able to attend this intimate event and will remember it forever. Btw, this magnet has been on my fridge ever since.
P.S we saw your show at the Flamingo 4 times, including your LAST show, over the 11 years and also attended 3 Christmas shows in Thackerville, OK, Grand Prairie, TX and Bossier City, LA and one “Summer Show” also in Bossier City. I will definitely miss your touring shows.

White and Nerdy – Take 1

September 26, 2006 California

Weird Al called me and said he just wrote a parody of “Ridin’ Dirty” by Chamillionaire featuring Krayzie Bone, and called it “White and Nerdy”. He then proceeded to tell me that I was the first person he thought of to be in the video with him. LOL!

This version is take 1 if front of the green screen. Keep in mind that everything in this was improv. Neither one of us knew what we were going to do when the camera was on. Everyone in the studio was rolling on the floor with laughter when it was over, including Al and me.

An Evening With Donny Osmond

February 26, 2005 Vermont

Dear Donny,

This is a picture of tickets from concert in Vermont in 2005 and a picture I took of you from that show.  It was my first concert and was a birthday present from my husband.  He had tried to take me to a concert  you and Marie were scheduled to perform in Bangor, Maine, he had already purchased the tickets and had front row center seats, but unfortunately for some reason the concert had to be canceled and wasn’t rescheduled.  I was very disappointed about that as I was afraid it was my last chance to see you in concert.  I do not remember how he found out about the Vermont concert but he managed to get tickets. I can still close my eyes and recall the emotions of hearing you in person for the first time as you began the concert.  Over the years we have been to many Osmond concerts, Foxwoods, Vegas, the cruise, Boston, Pennsylvania (this concert was a spur of the moment as I was visiting my sister and found out you were nearby and there were a few tickets still available in the very last row),  We are looking forward to your next album and hope you do a tour that comes close enough that we can attend.  Thanks for all the memories from my childhood on and look forward to making many more in the years to come.

A fan for life.
Annette Babcock
Hancock, Maine.
PS.  My now 14 year old grandson discovered “Crazy Horses” on my iPod when he was 4 and for a period of about 6 months whenever he could get his hands on it he would drain the battery just playing crazy horses over and over and over….  He loved it.  When we came to Vegas he realized I was going to see the singer of “Crazy Horses” he crafted a star for me to give to you which I did during the Meet and Greet.  You loved the story and gave the star to someone telling them to be sure it got put away properly.  One of the pictures was me giving it to you and I was able to show him when we returned home and tell him how much you appreciated his thoughtfulness.

April 1, 2003 Connecticut

I loved working with Martin Lawrence and Raven-Symoné in this movie. When I first read the script I thought that my part was really stupid. I either had to tone it down a bit or really go for it. I went for it! Some of the improving in this movie was so funny, like the time I kissed Martin on the cheek when he wasn’t expecting it. As you can see, his reaction was authentic. Molly Ephraim did an amazing job as my crazed daughter. 🤪

I can’t remember the exact date we filmed this on Connecticut. Does anyone out there have an idea?

Thank you,

Hi Donny

I, my daughter, and my neighbour went to see you perform in Joseph in Toronto on Sunday, June 11, 1995 at 1 pm. While we were waiting in front of the theatre for our ride, you came out of the theatre on your way somewhere. You were gracious enough to stop and talk. Afterwards I realized I should have had you sign our tickets. I mailed them to the theatre and sure enough they were returned with your signature. Thanks for a great memory. Soldier of Love Tour

December 6, 1989 Valley Forge PA

Dear Donny,
Hi! Here are my ticket stubs from the Soldier of Love Tour. I was lucky enough to see it at Valley Forge Music Fair in Valley Forge PA. That venue no longer exists, but I’ll never forget my wonderful experience there! It was a fairly small theater and set up in the round so I was close enough to actually be able to SEE you. The crowd sang Happy Birthday to you.
I’ve been a fan since “One Bad Apple” and when I think back on my young teen years, you and your music are such a huge part of my memories. I sang along (into my hairbrush “microphone”) to every song on every album.
It’s wonderful to see you and your lovely family and your continuing success. Thank you so much for all the years of pleasure and music and entertainment you have given me!
I love you, still! 💜

Donny’s 1st Solo Concert

December 1, 1986 Santa Ana, CA

“Donny ONLY?”,  “Donny and NOBODY else?”, were some of my thoughts when I first saw this concert advertised.  After years of seeing Donny onstage with all performing brothers or with Marie, it was surreal to me that seeing Donny headline a concert as a solo artist would actually be happening.  Both shows were amazing!  Since the date was close to his 29th birthday, a cake was given to him. This was the start of some great things to come!

Little Johnny Jones

March 22, 1982 New York

This was an eye opener for me on Broadway. Despite the fact that on opening night we had to stop the show three times for standing ovations, the reviews were, well, let’s just say that we opened and closed the same night. Ouch! However, I made a promise that I would someday redeem myself from this bump in the road.

Coincidentally, almost 10 years to the day, I began working on a little show called Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. And as they say, the rest is history.

Hi,
I attach photos of the front and back of my cherished ticket stub. The autographs came: 2007 Jimmy, Merrill and Wayne on the Once in a Lifetime UK tour. 2008 Donny on the 50th Anniversary Tour at Wembley, UK. He actually remembered the Apollo Glasgow venue even though it had been demolished! Jay on the OIAL 2010 Tour. Marie in Las Vegas in 2011. Alan in Las Vegas in 2014.
The remarkable thing is that I live in the Canary Islands, so each autograph represents a lot of travelling!
The other photo is me in Vegas in Oct 2019, the second time I saw Donny and Marie this year.

My first concert after failing to get tickets for the shows at the Rainbow Theatre previously. (The notorious selling off of tickets in the middle of the night and hence arriving around seven o’clock in the morning to absolute chaos).

Earls Court Concert (1st performance)

May 28, 1975 London, UK

  1. Dear Donny
This was my second Osmond Concert! My friend Joan and I made a huge banner out of a sheet which we spread out on her lawn to paint on it.
We lived in Manchester and the concert was in London so my Dad came with us as we were only 15. We had to go on a coach and needless to say it was full of Osmond fans!  My poor Dad and brother had to endure all us girls singing Osmond fans the whole way there and back!
After the concert Joan and I went to Knightsbridge (along with everyone else) and stood screaming outside the house that you were staying in!
Then we got back on the coach home at about midnight.
Happy Days! I think this was the concert where ‘Around The World Live’ album was recorded?

Thanks for the great memories xx

The Apollo in Glasgow

Started with queuing overnight sitting outside the venue in the 1970s to secure my precious Osmond ticket. Not so sure my old bones would cope with that these days but I would certainly give it a go if I had too 😂😂. So many precious memories of seeing you on your own in concert and with your brothers and Marie. When you first performed in Glasgow the stage was so high that no one could get near you but we gave it a good try. Those were the days when we were young and carefree 😍❤️. Looking forward to seeing you in Glasgow again soon.

Dear Donny,
Happy memories of my first concert back in 1973!
My friend and I had queued all night for tickets but they sold out just before we got to the box office. We cried all the way home!
A few days later someone at school sold me this ticket. This was when Tony Prince used to introduce you on stage! It was the concert which featured in One Tour withThe Osmonds’ when the show had to be stopped because girls were getting crushed.

The first of many concerts!

My admission ticket to Heathrow Airport on 21 October 1973 when the wall collapsed. My friend and I were right next to it but didn’t take it in until after the event as we were so excited about seeing the family arrive. My other memory of that day was the gangs of teenage boys taking their lives in their hands by taunting the fans with Slade and T Rex posters. So funny looking back but we didn’t find it amusing at the time.

  1. I was ten years old and my mom took my sisters and me to the concert. We were so excited, but when we got there we were told there were no seats available as there was a fundraiser for President Nixon and the majority of seats were filled by contributors. We were devastated and actually ended up being interview by our local newspaper. We all begged and begged the users to let us in. They finally agreed so we ended up sitting on the stairs watching the performance (even our mom sat on the stairs). It turned out to be a great evening. We got to see our favorite group again, and we were featured in our local paper!

I still love pulling up old “you tube” videos of your concerts! Brings back so many great memories!
