My Beliefs

Donny Osmond

“As I’ve traveled all over the world, the fact that I’m a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has caused a lot of interesting questions. I’ve received so many letters and e-mails asking things like, What are the basic beliefs of Latter-day Saints?”

My Testimony

…Some want to know how Debbie and I have been able to maintain a strong marriage — over all these years — while living in the world of show business. Others want to know how we dealt with the challenges of raising a close and happy family in such difficult times.

How do we maintain a balance between work, and family life? Well, you know it’s not always easy, but the following pages are my attempt to explain a way of life that helps answer these kinds of questions. It gives me stability in a world, and in a business, that can be uncertain, compromising, and stressful. It’s the pattern that gives me direction in my life. And, I hope that this information will help answer some of your questions.

Questions & Answers

  • Will I See My Parents Again After We Die?

What will happen to my parents when they die? I’m always so scared that something bad is going to happen to them. Will I ever see them again after they die? What about when I die? Will we still be a family in the next life?

I believe most everyone shares your fears about the ones they love.

I have now lost both of my dear parents and it’s hard, but the Lord can bless us with comfort during those difficult hours and days that follow the loss. As time passes, we adjust amazingly well and can go on feeling quite normal. Yes, we miss our departed loved ones, but we find it to be a normal part of life and are able to cope without undue pain.

When an individual passes away, their spirit leaves their body and continues to abide in a world of spirits. I believe that world of spirits is not far from us. Though we cannot see them, they can see us. The bad try to tempt us to do the wrong things, and of course, the good protect us from the bad by prompting us to do the right things in life.

Good people, when they die are received into a state of rest and happiness while the others find themselves in a realm of unhappiness

“Ye cannot say, when ye are brought to that awful crisis, that I will repent, that I will return to my God. Nay, ye cannot say this; for that same spirit which doth possess your bodies at the time that ye go out of this life, that same spirit will have power to possess your body in that eternal world.” (Book of Mormon Alma 34:34)

All departed spirits await the resurrection when their spirits reunite with an immortal body never to face death, disease nor pain again.

My suggestion for you would be to not dwell so much on what if you lost them, but how you can show your love and support to them while they are with you.

We believe to be bound as a family in the next life, families must be bound by the same keys given to Peter by Jesus as he said to Peter: “I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” Matthew 16:19)
